It’s a rainy day in Charleston and I started thinking about how perfect it would be to have a Meow Wolf here locally! We traveled to Santa Fe, NM back in 2018, and I still enjoy looking at our pictures from this venue. Meow Wolf is interactive and immersive artistic expression. It is a sensory experience as well as an artistic and imaginative fun house of sorts.
Upon entry, we walked into a yard with a house standing before us. My heart kind of dropped since I am not into scary haunted house themes! As we entered the home, everything became a colorful sensory delight. We found hidden passages (open every door, including the refrigerator) that led us to yet another amazing area with various themes. I felt a little like Alice in Wonderland as we made our way from room to room. It was easy to feel lost at times, but they have staff that passes by often, so don’t worry! I won’t give away too much since the surprise factor was part of the experience. It is fun for all ages but keep in mind that there are some physical activities that may not be suited for people with limited mobility.
Think of it as an art collective that you can play in! They also have a children’s learning center, cafe, bar and music venue! If you find yourself in Santa Fe or one of their other locations, go! You will have a great time and also be supporting their mission to help emerging artists!
