Brought to you by “A Social Nova Event” the 90’s bar crawl had five area bars participating in the 1990’s themed party. Yes, hubby and I knew that we would probably be the oldest folks attending but I still wanted to experience the event. So with much prodding, he reluctantly dressed up and was a total trooper about the whole thing!
The event itself still has me trying to figure out where the value was. I ended up scoring two free tickets but if I had paid the asking price I would have been pissed! Tickets ran $30-$40 depending on how close to the time of the event you purchased them. For that, you received a cup, a Koozie, a slap bracelet, and access to drink specials at each bar. Iv’e listed the drink specials below in case your interested.
The meeting place to receive the items was at the Carolina Ale House. We went outside and got our first drinks pretty fast. As the crowd began to grow the line was obnoxiously long so we decided to hit the next bar up. The line was so long hubby was willing to leave his card and come back for it later rather than stand in the line to pay! I passed the line to close out but I think you get the idea.
We went to Mynt next and enjoyed the outside space. We got there early enough to score seats which was awesome! The shots they made for the event were just two sweet for us so we just ordered tequila shots instead. We had a few well drinks too!
Our last stop was Big Gun Burger Shop and Bar. The burger there was life saving and the macaroni and cheese was pretty good! After filling our faces we were ready to just go home. We had a great time with our friends but we both agreed we would leave this event to the kiddies next time!
The drink specials:
Carolina Ale House
$4 purple punch (we each had one, we each tossed it. Tasted like Kool-Aid)
$6 Jack Fire and Night Train
$4 PBR Tall boys
We ended up just ordering drinks inside since none of these appealed to us.
Burns Alley
$5 16oz beer
$5 shot
$6 Malibu bucket
$10 double Malibu bucket
We didn’t go here. None of the specials sounded good to us!
Mynt
$2 shot
$3 domestic beer
$5 well liquors
We tried the shot and didn’t like it. Another sweet concoction that tasted like a hangover waiting to happen. We did hang here for a bit for the $5 well liquors.
Big Burger Shop and Bar
The program stated that their specials were on their website which we could not locate. We came for the burger and it was fantastic!
Republic Garden and Lounge
$2.50 Bud lights
$3 select shots
$5 well liquors
We didn’t go here. It’s a very loud venue to the point that it disrupts the surrounding neighborhoods and it’s always crowded. As locals, we have boycotted this place.
They changed colors when ice was put inside. Kind of fun!
The view from the Carolina Ale House was spectacular but it got very crowded!
When the lines grew outside, we ended up ordering from the bar inside.
The indoor bar at Mynt was pretty but the weather was great for the outside bar so we hung out there.
The outside bar at Mynt.
My prop as Ace Ventura with my slap bracelet.
I am not a fan of sweet shots, or the hangovers that follow, but there were obviously some fans there!
She was just adorable!
The life saving burger at Big Gun Burger Shop and bar! So yummy!
No true southerner can pass on macaroni and cheese! After our carb feast, we were ready for bed!
