The Footlight Players
20 Queen Street, Charleston, S.C. 29401
A step back in time! Footlight Players started in 1931 in an old converted warehouse on Queen Street. This community theater offers a wide variety of shows, plays, and musicals that are performed by very talented people! I have been to several productions and each time I leave wanting to come back. Just recently, I scored tickets to see 39 Steps! I saw that play in London and could not wait to see the Footlight Players perform it. The play is a comedy rendition of a British spy thriller directed by Alfred Hitchcock in 1935. They did an excellent job and who doesn’t love a good laugh?
The theater serves refreshments in the lobby so you are welcome to have some snacks, drinks and libations while watching the show. The seats are comfortable and they have plenty of leg room for taller folks! I didn’t snap any pictures of the play, that would just be rude, but if you get a chance to experience a live performance take it!
