The Gaillard center hosted Eddie Izzard for his “Believe Me” book tour. Just before the show was to begin a fire alarm went off and we had to evacuate the building for 30 minutes while the fire department did a safety check. After the all clear we went inside to enjoy the show. The sound system was on the fritz so the staff had to quickly put in place speakers and a corded microphone. The PA system every once in a while during the show would tell us to “leave the building” and the lights on the alarms blinked off and on. Needless to say it was a difficult time for the staff at the Gaillard and for Eddie Izzard! But the show must go on, and it did!
Telling his life story with photos from his past, a lot of humor, and a few “shut the fuck up” moments directed at the PA system made for an interesting and entertaining evening! Eddie handled the situation with humor and patience. His book is on the New York Times best seller list and I can’t wait to read it! If you have never seen his stand up comedy, you are really missing out!
The Gaillard Center is such a beautiful venue!
Evacuation and waiting on the “all is clear to enter” moment.
Yay! We got to enter after 30 minutes!
We headed straight for the bar!
My blurry over my shoulder shot of the balcony seating.
The ceiling was beautiful!

The Gaillard uses sippy cups with lids for wine! No red wine is allowed inside the auditorium due to potential stains. If you keep your cup, your next re-fill is $2.00 off!
Eddie Izzard was telling his story with humor.
In spite of the difficulties with the fire alarms and the PA system, we all had a great evening of laughter.
