Enter into England’s culinary wonderland and the visionary Chef’s that create it. This luxury Inn, located in Devon, is simply elegant. We came to try Chef Chris Simpson’s cookery after learning he was the Executive Chef at a two Michelin-starred restaurant. We knew we were in for a treat and treated we were!
Welcome to Gidleigh Park!
As you walk through to the restaurant, you can see how comfy and elegant the inn is for their guests.
We were seated in a sunny cheerful dinning area with a touch of elegance.
Simple beauty if hubby would of moved his phone. Oh well, they can’t always be perfect.
We decided on the tasting menu and first to arrive was this frothy amuse-bouche! If fresh was a flavor profile, this hit it square on!
A second amuse-bouche! We were totally excited about the meal to come after these two samplings!
Butter is not just butter! I loved that they added some pinch salt on the side for the bread!
A loaf of love! It was extremely difficult not to eat the whole thing because it was fresh, crusty and warm!
Salcombe crab with Brixham cuttlefish, Hamachi, yogurt with dill, and cucumber juice.
Suckling piglet with Gidleigh cider gel, butterfly sorrel, onion and cheddar, and pumpkin seed granola.
Salt block aged beef tartare with confit hen’s yolk, beef and Bovril and pickled cucumber.
Cassoulet of shell with native lobster, razor clams, squid, cuttlefish gnocchi and poached quail egg.
Dartmoor lamb with rosemary scented salsify, anchoiade dressing, goats milk and hen of woods.
Confit and nitro blackberries with Picudo olive oil and cake, crispy yogurt and sorbet.
Banana parfait with Kaffir lime, peanuts and dark chocolate.
A garden invitation after that incredible meal was just what we needed. We rolled out there for some coffee and reflection on the meal we had just enjoyed. Some would probably call it a food coma.
The view of the garden was splendid and a perfect place to relax!
